Melia dupia Melia dubia commonly known in our region as Malabar neem originates from the Meliaceae family, is an native species of tree to India. Melia dubia is also called as a Maha neem or Forest neem. Which is fastest growing tree species, with in 6-7 years the plantation is ready to harvest. Melia dupia is one of the fastest growing trees and its woods are highly demanding in plywood industries. It is commonly found in the hilly areas at an elevations ranging from 600 – 1800m. Melia dubia usually seen at altitudes of 1,500-1,800 meters in the tropical moist deciduous forests of the Sikkim, Himalayas, North Bengal ETC.
