Mai Managala Suliyalli (Kannada) is a novel that tells the story of a beautiful and talented courtesan named Manjula. It also touches on the story of the next two generations. Summary Of The Book Mai Managala Suliyalli (Kannada) is the story of Manjula, but it begins with the story of her daughter and her child. Manjula had bequeathed her fortune to her adopted daughter, Shari. Shari was the child of Manjula's cousin. Shari has a daughter, Chandri, who does not want to follow the family profession. With no way left to save their home, they are both packing up to leave the house they inherited from Manjula. While they are doing this, Chandri comes across an old manuscript which turns out to be the recorded life story of her great aunt. The novel then becomes the autobiography of Manjula. She is a clever, talented and beautiful woman, a sought after companion to many wealthy men. But, Manjula had dreams of finding a perfect soul mate, who would fulfil all her ideals. She never succeeds in finding such a man, as most of the men who enter her life end up falling short of her expectations in one way or another. She also has another fond wish, to have a child of her own. She is disappointed in this too. However, she adopts her cousin's child, Shari, and gives her a good life. Manjula cites four men who defined her life. These were her father, her guru who taught her classical music, a priest, and finally, a secret lover. This last person could have been the ideal match she had been searching for. But even in this, there was a catch. Mai Managala Suliyalli (Kannada) is a poignant and fascinating tale, set in the small town of Basrur, located on the banks of the river Varahi. It tells the bittersweet tale of a woman whose dreams eluded her, even when they seemed within her grasp. About Shivarama Karanth Shivarama Karanth was a noted Kannada writer and an environmentalist.
