The thing I miss most about theatre. That is the lack of such plays, not the subject, they are scattered in our mythology, but nothing special has been written on them in terms of staging. Which can be done anywhere in the village chaupal, under a banyan or peepal tree, on the banks of rivers or ponds, or in people's small rooms, on someone's rooftop, and those topics should be such that people have faith in them. I have been continuously searching for the same idea for some years, under the same idea that there should be entertainment as well as learning and every person who works in the fields all day, runs a shop or is busy in a corporate can connect. In the same sequence of those topics which are prevalent among the people, the first thought that came to my mind was the topic of Shri Satya Narayan Katha, now saying anything about its fame would be like showing a lamp to the sun. I had been writing for the last two years, but for some reason or the other I would stop midway. Here, I have taken some time out from my busy work schedule for the past few days, now it is a happy coincidence that I am completing it today, 10th September 2023, on the day of Aja Ekadashi. While writing, I felt that this topic would connect with people more through drama recitation than through staging, because today people have been listening to it through priests for centuries, if not seeing it, then the culture of listening to it is ingrained in the soul. At present, both the possibilities are hidden in its transformation, another big reason for writing on this subject is that this story holds a very sacred and important place in the Indian society. -Krishna Gopal (Author)
