A very well written book with a wide sweep of erudition, tracing the developments of medical practice down the ages. It covers the ancient systems of medicine from the prehistoric period to the medieval period such as, Indian, Chinese, Greek and Roman medical systems, and the development of the field in the west. It also gives a bird's eye view of what contemporary medicine looks like, and provides us with a vision of what the future of medicine is likely to be.
