Batasa or sugar / Jaggary drop are very common and widely used on pan India basis as parsadam for daily pujas / prayers. In Bengal it is also used for the said purposes but in rural Bengal it is customarily Batasa used to be served with a glass of water for sundry visitors at home. But for daily pujas or for main pujas like lakshmi puja / Saraswati Puja and other pujas Batasa is offered as one of the items in every Bengali household. There are two types like yellow made our of Jaggary and wa white variety made from Sugar.
