The justification of adding yet another textbook to the shelves of dental literature is to be found in the presentation of the subject matter and not in any novelty of technique. The increased use of MCQ examination has amplified the value of a book such as this, designed to guide the reader in a review of the basic sciences of dentistry. The trend in recent years has been towards the use of objective type questions. All central and state institutions in India follow this pattern for selecting candidates to post-graduate courses, it has also been introduced or is in the process of introduction for grading students in the under-graduate level of examinations.
