The first volume of the book on 'Mechanics of Solids and Structures' will meet the syllabus of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Marine branches of Anna University, all autonomous Colleges and Deemed Universities. This will also serve the students and the teachers of Polytechnic Colleges, other Universities, AMIE students and Practising Engineers. The volume contains eleven chapters, namely Deformation, Strain and Stress, Principal Stresses and Strains, Beam and Bending, Stresses in Beams, Strain Energy Methods, Torsion and Springs, Deflection of Beams, Analysis of Plane Trusses, Columns and Struts, Thin and Thick Cylinders and Material Properties. Chapters are presented in a simple and lucid manual with a lot of numerical examples and illustrative sketches.
