With overall increase in life expectancy, the global burden of cancer is also increasing. Some of these patients will experience disease or therapy related emergent complications at some point during the course of disease. Infact, for some patients, a medical emergency may be the first presentation of underlying cancer. Early identification and treatment of the disease can improve clinical outcome. Therefore, it is imperative that medical practitioners, especially emergency care physicians, intensivists, and oncologists should train themselves, so that they can effectively manage these emergencies.“Onco Critical Care Society Manual of medical emergencies in oncology” is an initiative of Onco Critical Care Society comprising of twenty chapters.
