The Second Edition of Microscopy and Photomicrography is devoted to explaining the correct procedures for setting up and aligning the optical system of a microscope. All microscopic techniques are described and illustrated with photographs to facilitate an understanding of key concepts presented in the text. New material to this edition centers around confocal scanning epi-fluorescence and special techniques. Several color and black and white photographs have been added, in addition to many line drawings. Other topics addressed include cover glass thickness and its effect on optical quality, color photography and the theory of filtration, filtering out unwanted structures in black and white photomicrography, numerical aperture (based on Abbe's diffraction apparatus), and trouble-shooting and correcting optical and photographic faults.
