Ransom Riggs's debut novel tells the tale of a young boy who follows the trail to an abandoned orphanage in a series of narratives and vernacular photographs. When he arrives at Wales in hunt for the truth, he finds the house where his grandfather and the peculiar children lived. The trail leads him to a pyrotechnician called Emma who takes him back in time to meet Miss Peregrine. He meets the other children in the house, including invisible Millard and the strong Bronwyn. His stay is soon troubled as he begins to see the creature that was responsible for his grandfather's death, creatures that he must stop to protect the children. If he cannot do so, they will lose the only reality they call home and he will lose the only people he can call family again. About Ransom Riggs Ransom Riggs is an American filmmaker and writer. His interest in vernacular photography and short films sparked an idea which led to the current title. The story continues in his second novel: Hollow City.
