Candace was a student of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she studied pharmacology and received her PhD. She held a research position, in addition to being a professor, at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington DC, in the Physiology and Biophysics department. She has also served at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). She is currently pursuing the development of an AIDS vaccine with a private company.
