Monkey Stories is a collection of the Jataka Tales featuring monkeys. Jataka Tales are Buddhist fables and parables, relating the stories of the Buddha’s previous births, both in human and animal form. He is shown to retain his deep wisdom in all these births. The Jataka Tales impart wisdom and philosophy through various interesting tales. This book compiles Jataka Tales featuring monkeys and presents them in comic book format, from Amar Chitra Katha. The monkeys in these tales include one that uses a reed pipe to get water from a lake that is inhabited by a monster, and a monkey king who uses his own body as part of a bridge to help his troop escape slaughter. These and other interesting tales teach wisdom and human values and philosophy. Meena Talim has written the stories for many of Amar Chitra Katha publications, especially pertaining to Buddhist literature and folklore.
