Also an astrologer, Shakuntala Devi wrote, Astrology For You. Aptly known as the human computer, Shakuntala Devi demonstrated her skills at the University of Mysore, at the age of 6, and at Annamalai University at the age of 8. She started displaying her mathematical skills at the tender age of 3. In 1977, she competed with a computer in Dallas to find the cube root of a 9-digit number and won. Her calculating records also hold a place in the Guinness Book Of World Records. She also wrote cookbooks and fictional novels. Shakuntala Devi died in Bangalore in April 2013.
