Her research interests include Quality of Service provisioning for real-time multimedia processing and communication systems, multimedia distributed systems and applications, and multimedia and Internet security. Nahrstedt earned her Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania in 1995. Ralf Steinmetz is the Professor of Multimedia Communications at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. He is considered a scholar in the worldwide community of advanced multimedia researchers, having co-written books like Multimedia Systems, Multimedia Applications, and Multimedia Fundamentals: Media coding and content processing, with Klara Nahrstedt. Steinmetz studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt.
