Mythologies is a collection of essays taken from Les Lettres nouvelles, which explores the tendency of the modern social value systems to create urban myths. This book is a must-have for those interested in world culture and its history. About Roland Barthes Roland Barthes was a French literary theorist, philosopher, linguist, critic and semiotician. He was born in 1915 in Normandy and studied French literature and classics at the University of Paris. Later he joined Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, where he studied lexicology and sociology. He was a professor at the College de France until his death in 1980.
