Girsih Karnad writes with the specific aim of giving message to the humanity, Yayati is beautifully designed to perform this function. Like his other plays, it is an adaptation; here he adapts the myth of Yayati and Devayani he had found in the Mahabharata. This play is based mostly on arguments; though drama depends on spectacular action for its success.
