The assignments given at the end of each chapter help users gain practical experience with their camera. Nikon D5100 takes readers through step-by-step instructions for capturing images. Sylvan begins his book by offering ten tips that photographers must follow from the start, followed by an explanation for each. The book’s focus is to help readers capture still photos, although there is also a small section on capturing videos. The author helps readers get ready to start capturing beginner level photos. He then begins to address professional shooting concepts such as aperture priority, manual mode, and shutter priority. Detailed photographs of all the camera controls, photographs with analysis information, and bonus chapters are also included.
