About Premchand Munshi Premchand was an Indian writer best remembered for his Hindustani literature. His real name was Dhanpat Rai Srivastav, and he also wrote under the name of Nawab Rai. Hailed as one of the best Hindi writers in history, he was called the "Upanyas Samrat" and is best remembered for The Mystery of God's Abode, Prema, Rangbhoomi and Kaayakalp. The current title is also published in English as The Second Wife.
