Billon Silver coins, dating back 900 to 1000 years to the time period between A.D. 1022 and A.D. 1135, were minted in India by those fleeing Islamic expansion. They were modeled after Sassanian coins, featuring the monarch's bust on the front and a fire altar on the back. As time passed, the designs became more abstract as the original meaning was lost.
