Oleander Girl is the story of Korobi Roy, a seventeen-year-old girl who was orphaned at birth. She hopes to find true love, but a dark family secret decides a different life for her. Summary of the Book Korobi Roy was orphaned at birth and lives with her grandparents who take very good care of her. She hardly has any memories of her parents, except for an incomplete love note that she found in her mother’s book of poetry. She is troubled by the silence that surrounds the death of her parents and wishes that one day she too will find true love that is as powerful as that of her parents. She meets the charming Rajat and it seems as though her wish might have come true. However, Korobi’s grandfather dies on the night of their engagement and some hidden secrets have come out into the open that shatters Korobi. She leaves behind her comfortable life in Kolkata and goes to America. She finds America unwelcoming and dangerous, yet alluring at the same time.
