On Anarchism provides a dynamic overview of the fundamentals of Chomsky's thought, concentrating particularly on his continuous questioning of the legitimacy of entrenched power. Summary of the Book This book collects Noam Chomsky's insightful and thought-provoking essays and interviews to offer a comprehensive introduction to his uniquely optimistic view of anarchism. Disproving the notion of anarchism as a fixed idea and disputing the passé fault lines between anarchism and socialism, On Anarchism challenges, provokes and inspires as an anthology of powerful essays. Profoundly relevant to current times, the book is a touchstone for political activists and anyone who is interested in a deeper understanding of anarchism, or of Chomsky's thoughts on the subject. About Noam Chomsky Noam Chomsky was born in Philadelphia in 1928. He obtained his Ph.D. in linguistics. While he was a Junior Fellow at Harvard, he finished his doctoral dissertation on transformational grammar. His major theoretical standpoints of the thesis appeared in the monograph called Syntactic Structures. This shaped a part of his further extensive work, The Logical Structure of Linguistic Theory, published in 1975. Chomsky later taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Some of his notable books are Necessary Illusions: Thought Control in Democratic Societies, The Fateful Triangle, and Gaza in Crisis.
