On Hinduism is a collection of essays and writings about the ancient Hindu texts by Wendy Doniger. She answers questions long pondered, about Hinduism and polytheism, how atheism can be a part of Hinduism too, how Hinduism sees non-violence and how salvation is subjective. She also discusses the Hindu theories of dharma, karma and janma. She discusses rebirth and shows how ancient Hindu texts have regarded it. Wendy Doniger draws from her knowledge as an Orientalist and Sanskrit scholar to show that much of what we know about Hinduism isn't true at all, and that there is much, much more waiting to be discovered. About Wendy Doniger Wendy Doniger O'Flaherty is an American Indologist and writer. Some of her major works are: Hindu Myths: A Sourcebook, The Origins of Evil in Hindu Mythology, The Rig Veda: An Anthology, 108 Hymns Translated from the Sanskrit and Harsha’s Priyadarsika and Ratnavali. A graduate of Oxford University, where she obtained her D.Phil, she currently holds the Mircea Eliade Distinguished Service Professor Chair in History of Religions at the University of Chicago.
