One Little Finger is the story of one woman’s victory against the odds that society puts in front of her. This woman is Malini Chib,who had been diagnosed with cerebral palsy at a very early age and currently lives a busy life as a lecturer and researcher. The book is an account of the odds that were faced by this woman who found the society around her to be ill equipped to accept people like her into the mainstream of life. She was born with a condition that has the same effects that a stroke has in adults.This resulted in restricted bodily movements. It was with the help and support of her family and friends and immense will power that she educated herself. She overcame her motor and speech disorders by teaching herself to type with her little finger and speak through the Lightwriter. The ultimate achievement was a career in event management. The story is one of personal achievement and an example to show how individual determination can win over any obstacle. Malini Chib is an activist who holds two master’s degrees. Despite her disability, she is a writer, researcher, and lecturer. She is also the honorary secretary of ADAPT, an organization which works towards creating better and normalized conditions in the society for people with special needs. She has written a number of articles for various national magazines and dailies. Apart from One Little Finger she has written another book titled A Guide For Disabled Students in Higher Education.
