The story of Matthew and Silvia begins in Paris in 1978, when a group of idealistic young doctors join Medecine Internationale. Two of them fall in love, only to be swept apart a year later in war-torn Eritrea. Now, much later, Silvia is before him again and only Matthew has a chance of saving her.
