He holds his Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin. He started the Center for Excellence in Manufacturing Management and remained its director for a span of four years.He received two distinguished honours like the College of Business Outstanding Faculty Research Award and the University Alumni Distinguished Teaching Award, while he was one of the faculty members at The Ohio State University. Apart from these he has also been honoured with the National Award of Merit of the American Production and Inventory Control Society, the Distinguished Service Award and the National President's Award.
