Naturewell Basil Seeds are made available in its natural form from the sweet basil plant, Ocimum basilicum. The nutrient content and the health benefits slightly vary from chia seeds, along with the appearance. These seeds are similar to the size of chia seeds, but they differ from their colour. Chia seeds are found to be in a round shape with grey or brownish colour whereas Basil Seeds are completely black and are tear-shaped in appearance. Like chia seeds, basil seeds also become glutinous when soaked in water. The main difference between the two seeds is that, Chia Seeds usually take a longer time to swell, as compared to that of basil seeds. They are considered to be more nutritious when soaked in water and consumed. Blended in a lemonade or sprinkled over kulfi, they impart their own fresh and grassy touch. You can munch on these seeds as a low-calorie snacking alternative. Add it to pastas or soups for a crunchy feel. They are often mixed with water, honey and coconut milk in many parts of Asian countries to beat the scorching summer heat. When mixed with milkshakes or lemon juices, they can provide you with a good amount of nutrients, especially calcium, which is not only beneficial for bone health, but also for the overall functioning of the body.
