Jealousy and anger have always been there to bring about the downfall of any man or woman. This is a story that gives us a clear description of the extent of destruction that negative emotions can cause. Summary of the Book There is no one as faithful and pure as Desdemona has been to and for Othello. This is not enough for a woman who is clean on moral grounds when the powers of negative minds come together. Iago plans to bring Othello down as he is insulted when the Moorish general places a younger man named Michael above him. He plots an evil plan to destroy Othello and his marriage. He uses Roderigo and convinces him to tell Desdemona’s father about her secret marriage to Othello. He then makes Othello believe that Desdemona has cheated on him with Cassio, a soldier who has just been stripped of his rank by Othello. Iago even plants a handkerchief of sentimental value that Desdemona had given Othello in Cassio’s lodgings to be sure that his plan works out. Othello finds it and, without listening to an explanation, decides to kill Desdemona and orders Iago to kill Cassio. Will Othello’s anger subside in time for his anger to not prove fatal to Desdemona, the one he loves more than anyone or anything else?
