Our Endless Numbered Days is the debut novel by Claire Fuller. It poignantly depicts the life of Peggy Hillcoat, an eight-year-old girl whose life has been reduced to living in a forest, following a tragic family crisis. Summary of the Book The story of this title is set in 1976, the year Peggy turns eight. That year, she spends her summer camping with her father, listening to her mother’s grand piano and playing her favourite record, The Railway Children. But a tragedy strikes their little family, a crisis that Peggy is unable to comprehend until later. She is taken away from London to a cabin in a distant European forest by her father who is a survivalist. He also makes her believe that the rest of the world has vanished, except for their piano, their endearingly small wooden hut and the forest in which they find their means of survival. Her story, Baker, Emily and Me won the BBC Opening Lines competition. It was broadcast on Radio 4. She has also won the Brighton Prize for one of her stories.
