A book by the world famous author Ruskin Bond, Notes from a small room is about the simple nuances of everyday life that make it extra special. Summary Of The Book Notes From A Small Room begins its journey in a small room, wherein Ruskin Bond writes about everything that has impressed him. The book is an appreciation of the little things in life that we might not notice because they are mute spectators to our super-busy lives. However, the author notices them and also appreciates them with the visionary style of a writer. He explicitly proves his love for nature by not sparing a mention of anything around him, not even the little ants that we trample upon almost every minute in our rushed routines, without even flinching once. The book is mostly a compilation of diary entries, chosen tastefully from Ruskin Bond’s own diary, written over a number of years. There are chapters about incidents from his childhood, moments he has spent with his father and his days of struggle before he became a writer, when he could not even afford his typewriter himself, and had to accept it as a gift from his caretaker. There are also chapters wherein the author says that he has no philosophy in life and confesses that he is of no use to anybody as a friend, philosopher or guide. The author very touchingly states that it is the very simple things in life that prevent us from going crazy. This book might not be considered one of the very memorable bestsellers of Ruskin Bond, but the simplicity with which it describes life and the things around us and urge us to appreciate the beauty in small things brings to it a touch of exclusivity and earns it the status of a must-read.
