This book attempts to analyse the plight of overburdened school-going children from their perspective in India. Making a critical study of the functioning of the sample schools, it examines the course curriculum. It also analyses the activities of the students at school as well as at home and takes stock of the expectations of teachers and parents from them. The voices of the children regarding their experiences at school and home have been recorded as well. The book will be useful for under-graduate and post-graduate students of Anthropology and Sociology.
