The poetry of Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo is the apex of religious and spiritual experiences of the two important philosopher-poets of modern India. It is redolent of the mystical and transcendental poetry of the Gita, the Upanishads and other scriptures. While making a comparative assessment of the two from the viewpoint of its scriptural basis, the present work highlights the need for such new critical approach for analyzing the philosophic spiritual poetry. The work also studies the interdependence of poetry and philosophy and bringing of Mantric verse into Indian English poetry. The book throws light on a little known esoteric fact that Sri Aurobindo is a spiritual heir of Swami Vivekananda. Interdisciplinary in approach, the study makes a rich contribution to the corpus of Indian literature, criticism and philosophy.
