Phrenology is the science which professes to explain the disposition and qualities of the mind by supposed organs in the brain. In this book the author, who professes to be a phrenologist, under takes a scientific and analytical study of this singular tribe in the Nilgiri mountains in Southern India. In the book there are separate chapters that describe the historical outline, phrenological basis, physiology, characteristics, the land on which they live, food habits, census, family statistics, religion, the bell gods, tirieri preists, priestly, priestly duties, the firieri, the etnd mand, the future state, the boath, the green funeral, the dry funeral, religious culture, infanticide, polyandry and ends with a chapter on the Tada grammar and a vocabulary. This book is a reprint of the 1873 edition.
