Published in the year 2011, Physical Chemistry is a book that covers the subject of physical chemistry in detail. Summary Of The Book Physical chemistry is defined as the study of atomic, subatomic, macroscopic, and particulate phenomena, in accordance with the concepts and laws of physics. It was first referred to in the year 1752 by Mikhail Lomonosov, during his lecture at Petersburg University, which was titled “A Course In True Physical Chemistry”. Some of the principles followed in physical chemistry include motion, force, energy, quantum chemistry, and statistical mechanics. Physical Chemistry provides its readers with detailed information on this subject. Through the course of this book, readers are explained important concepts through simple examples and step-by-step derivations. In total, there are 23 chapters presented. The names of the chapters are The First Law Of Thermodynamics, Reaction Equilibrium In Non-ideal Systems, Transport Processes, Kinetic Theory Of Gases, Spectroscopy And Photochemistry, and Theories Of Reaction Rates. Some of the other chapters include Reaction Equilibrium In Ideal Gas Mixtures, Standard Thermodynamic Functions Of Reaction, The Second Law Of Thermodynamics, and Multicomponent Phase Equilibrium. Lessons titled Solids And Liquids, One-Component Phase Equilibrium And Surfaces, Solutions, Real Gases, and Statistical Mechanics are also present. Levine is a well-known professor of chemistry. Apart from this book, he has written a number of other books. They include Student Solutions Manual For Quantum Chemistry and Quantum Chemistry. His writing is based on the subjects of Physical Chemistry, Molecular Spectroscopy, and Quantum Chemistry. Levine holds a doctoral degree in General Chemistry from Harvard University. He currently teaches Chemistry at Brooklyn College.
