About Sudipta Kaviraj Sudipta Kaviraj is an Indian academic, scholar and a faculty member at the Columbia University in the department of Middle Eastern, South Asian and African Studies. He is associated with South Asian Politics and Intellectual History. Kaviraj graduated from the Presidency College, the University of Calcutta and completed his Ph.D. at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has also written The Unhappy Consciousness: Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay and the Formation of Nationalist Discourse in India and Civil Society: History and Possibilities.
