These disappearances seem to be linked with a mysterious Italian submarine reported missing in 1943. The authorities seek the help of NUMA director Dirk Pitt and his team. Pitt is assisted by a beautiful NCIS agent, his children Dirk Jr., the Marine Engineer and Summer, the oceanographer. They embark on a hunt across the country to find answers, discovering that the threat is far greater than their worst nightmares. About Clive Cussler Clive Eric Cussler is an adventure novelist and marine archaeologist known for his thriller novels, most of which feature Dirk Pitt. He is also the founder and chairman of the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA), which investigates the deep seas for shipwrecks. Dirk Cussler is Clive Cussler’s son, and co-writer for most of the Dirk Pitt novels. He is also the namesake for the character.
