As soon as you receive the Karungali of Sri Sembu Murgan, first soak it in cow's milk for 24 hours, on the second day, soak it in turmeric water for 24 hours, and on the third day, soak it in normal water for 24 hours. Then worship the Ishta Devata or Kula Devata and wear it. Don't wear it while visiting the funeral, women should avoid wearing during menstrual cycle.
