Dry copra, also simply called copra, is the dried meat or kernel of the coconut, which is used primarily to extract coconut oil. It comes from mature coconuts that are split open and then dried through various methods, such as sun-drying or kiln-drying.The dried copra pieces are hard and rough, with a brown outer layer and a dense white or off-white interior. The drying process removes much of the moisture, resulting in a product that is rich in natural coconut oil and has a long shelf life. This oil is widely used for cooking, skincare, and hair care, while the remaining copra meal after oil extraction is often used as animal feed due to its protein content. Copra has a mildly sweet, nutty aroma, though the drying process intensifies its earthiness, and its taste is slightly more savory than fresh coconut.
