Bhatia graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College & associated LNJP & GB. Pant Hospitals New Delhi did his post graduation in Psychiatry from Lady Hardinge Medical College & associated Smt. Sucheta Kriplani & Kalawati Saran Childrens Hospitals New Delhi. He joined teaching Faculty of University College of Medical Sciences & Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital Delhi. He is at present Professor and Head Department of Psychiatry in the same institution. He is also the Head Department of Psychiatry University of Delhi (having 3 Medical Colleges & 12 Hospitals attached to it). He has authored over 50 Books (more than 20 in Psychiatry & Allied Sciences) and over 25 Chapters in different books. Having more than 150 Publications in various National and International Journals and over 80 publications in National Dailies he has won 16 National and Zonal Awards in Psychiatry and literature. Dr. Bhatia is on the editorial review and advisory committees of many research publications and national bodies. He is a Life fellow of Indian Psychiatric Society member of World Psychiatric Association and American Psychiatric Association. He has worked in Delhi Psychiatric Society in various capacities and is currently Editor of Delhi Psychiatry Journal.
