This book seeks to find out the demographic variables which provide germane grounds for child abuse and neglect in rural-urban societies in India, especially in the eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh. Further examining the socio-economic status and occupational characteristics of families in which children are abused and neglected, it investigates the psychological dispositions of abusive parents. Finally, it analyses the cognitive, motivational and behavioural functioning as well as personality pattern of abused and non-abused children.
