Charles Freer Andrews (12.02.1871 - 05.04.1940) was the first foreigner to write about Rabindranath. He had a long-lasting friendship with Rabindranath. His life was totally transformed when on 7th July 1912 in a literary gathering he met Rabindranath and heard English renderings of Geetanjali. On 19th April 1914 he joined Santiniketan ashram. He considered Santiniketan his home. Whenever he went out for a tour he would express his heart’s desire for the calm and quiet of Santiniketan.
