This book is a soldier’s account of the Revolt that shook north and central India in 1857 – 1858 The author was an officer the 93rd Highlanders, who distinguished themselves during the Revolt. Covered in this book are relief and 2nd siege of Lucknow; the capture of Lucknow; and the campaigns in Rohailkhand and Awadh (Oude). This is a mutiny memoir of a hardened soldier, and if full of minute descriptions of the operations, engagements, and wars with the rebels, descriptions of camp life, the forced marches, the ammunition supplies, etc. This book is a reprint of the 1910 edition.
