Ahuja taught for more than three decades as a Sociology professor at the University of Rajasthan. Many of his books were adopted as texts for competitive examinations, colleges, and universities. For almost two decades, he also served as a guest faculty for numerous IPS, IAS, and State Administrative Officer training institutions. Ahuja was also the Senior Fellow of the Indian Council of Social Science Research. Ahuja was awarded the Gobind Ballabh Pant award from the Police Research Bureau and Development, Government of India.
