An account of the travels of a great gamer from England to khiva, a strategic city in Central Asia. The exact date is not mentioned in the book regarding time of the undertaking of the journey but it is roughly in the early 2nd half of the 19th century. This voyage by the author was to access the extent of Russian influence in the Central Asia region. As with all travel descriptions copious mention is made as regards to the topography, the life and customs of the natives, the military possibilities and various anecdotes illustrating the daily life of the natives.
