Perhaps his life would be a lot easier with a career in law. Little did Robinson Crusoe know that his thirst for adventure would lead him to a life of thirty years on an unknown island. Summary of the Book A career in law was not what Robinson Crusoe wanted. And this was why he was running away. He was running away from a boring life and was out in search of a more exciting one. He decides to escape by sea, gets caught in a storm and survives it, This was just the beginning. He then becomes a successful merchant but not for long. He is now caught by a group of pirates who pull him to the sea. He survives again. He sees success again as a plantation owner, and again not for long. He is caught again. This time by a group of people on an expedition of gathering slaves. He escapes, gets shipwrecked and survives again by landing himself on an island, the island he stayed for the next three decades of his life. About Daniel Defoe Daniel Defoe was best known for his novel Robinson Crusoe. He has written various other books, some of them being Moll Flanders, The King of Pirates and Of Captain Mission. Apart from being a writer, he was also a businessman and a politician.
