Around the World in Eighty Days (1873) is the story of how Phileas Fogg and his valet attempt to travel the world in eighty days as the result of a £20,000 wager with Fogg’s London friends. Following Phileas’s tumultuous journey through Suez, Bombay, Calcutta, Hong Kong, Yokohama, San Francisco, New York and Liverpool, this classic adventure story is one of the best of its kinds. About the Author Jules Verne (1828-1905) was an acclaimed French author. His works include Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870), Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1864) and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873). He is considered one of the pioneers of the genre of science fiction.
