Rusty Runs Away is an adventurous and thought-provoking book for children and young adults, written by Ruskin Bond. Summary of the Book In the five years of Rusty's life that this title traces, his story is taken forward to his youthful years. His world becomes chaotic as several disturbances overwhelm him. After his father and grandmother pass away within a short stretch of time, the twelve-year-old Rusty is left in the care of a guardian, Mr Harrison. But after a secretive event involving his stepfather and the gardener, he is sent to a boarding school. With an ambition to travel the world, Rusty’s restlessness makes him run away from the school. But he fails in the attempt, and is soon taken back to Dehra, to his stern guardian. And now, Rusty is seventeen. His wandering soul makes him leave home again, but this time, for the better. About Ruskin Bond Ruskin Bond was born in Himachal Pradesh, India. He is the recipient of the many honorary Indian awards, including the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and the Sahitya Akademi Award. His contribution to children’s literature in India is specially recognized by the Indian Council for Child Education. His autobiography is Rain in the Mountains. Scenes from a Writer’s Life also talks about the young Ruskin. Some of his books are adapted as films and TV series, which have won several awards. Garland of Memories, Rain in the Mountain-Notes from the Himalayas, A Face in the Dark and Other Hauntings, Vagrants in the Valley and Other Poems and Once upon a Monsoon Time are some of his other works.
