This book is a research-proven attempt to trace Savarkar from one Savarkar to another. Against the prevailing images of Savarkar, this book attempts to understand the real evolution of Savarkar from his revolutionary to the statesman and then to the ideological representative and leader of Hindutva politics. For this, the author, apart from his prolific writings, has done a deep study of all the books found in relation to him, the then historical sources, the documents submitted by the British government by the contemporaries, etc. This is not a biography of Savarkar, but an honest attempt to understand and read a larger spectrum of the freedom movement by keeping his historical personality in the center. Needless to say that in the present era of invention and propagation of various historical, political and social distortions under the guise of the concept of nation, such unbiased studies have become extremely necessary. Ashok Kumar Pandey, in the present background of historical ambiguities, started the process of truth-searching in the context of Kashmir and Gandhi with his books, this book is the next stop and as such a necessary intervention in the present.
