About Swami Ranganathananda Swami Ranganathananda was the thirteenth president of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission. The Hindu monk was born Shankaran Kutty. He was fond of the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna as a teenager and joined the Ramakrishna Order in Mysore as a Brahmachari. In 2000, Ranganathananda was chosen by the Indian government for the Padma Bhushan, but declined it as it was given to him alone and not for the Mission. He later accepted the Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration and the Gandhi Peace Prize as they were conferred on the Ramakrishna Mission.
