About the Book: The human mind is always hungry for information and knowledge. It is this quest for knowledge that has inspired me to collect and compile information on various subjects. This book therefore aims to disseminate scientific information and knowledge. This in turn will arouse interest in young minds and inculcate the correct scientific attitude in them.In bringing out this book, care was taken in compiling the scientific knowledge and information such that it caters to both young and old minds alike. Subjects were chosen and included in this book, such that the knowledge gained by the reader at the end will be of a variety of subjects ranging from simple physics to health and current affairs. At the same time it provokes critical thinking and reasoning in the readers which will stimulate their scientific mind.In the end I wish the readers a happy and fun reading!About the Author: Dr. (Mrs) Didcy Laloo hails from Jowai, West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya, North East India. She did her M.Sc in the field of chemistry and Ph.D in chemistry (Chemical Kinetics) from North Eastern Hills University (NEHU), Shillong. She was a lecturer in chemistry in various government colleges in Meghalaya. Her association with IGNOU started in the year 1997 as an Assistant Regional Director and later got promoted as Regional Director IGNOU, Regional Centre, Shillong. She retired from Govt. Service on 29th Nov 2012. She feels that working as a Regional Director gives her responsibility to help the masses who are disadvantaged and live in rural areas. She works toward minimizing the dropout rate and encourages the learners in the region to continue their education. During her tenure as a lecturer as well as academician she found that rural areas in Meghalaya do not have the basic concepts necessary for understanding science. She has produced articles in the national and international journals.
