Studying textbooks is essential for any assessment. But textbooks are elaborate innature with many illustrations. Students find it very difficult to revise a subject,especially before a comprehensive examination, using textbooks. Consequently,they are unable to structure the answers that cater to the examiners’ expectations. Usually,this prevents the students from achieving the results they deserve. Hence, the need fora concise recapitulating manual is inevitable. This widely present concern among thestudents has rooted the emergence of this book.‘Pearls in Pediatric Nephrology’ is devised as a tool for easy recollection of importanttopics in pediatric nephrology for exam-going postgraduate students. The text ispresented in a precise and point-by-point manner. The style of writing not only makesthe concepts easier to retain, but also helps to review the subject quickly. Furthermore,to improve comprehension, a number of diagrams, flowcharts, and tables are included.All these features will enable the students to prepare key principles of nephrology in ashort-duration of time and apply them effectively to excel in exams. Though this bookmay not replace a standard textbook, it provides a summary of various topics dealing withkidney-related disorders in children to facilitate rapid revision and quick self-assessmentbefore exams.The book also contains a compilation of question banks from various universities withchapter-wise answers, prepared concisely under the guidance of Dr. B. R. Nammalwar,the first and senior-most pediatric nephrologist of India. My sincere thanks to Dr. B.
